Recycled ReDesign
For most of us the days of casual shopping in furniture stores, interior design studios, or art galleries are over. Yes it is pretty exciting to sit down on that perfect leather couch and imagine your big screen TV congratulating you on your choice of throw pillows.
I am saddened to see so many of these establishments go out of business but did you know that the 2 most "marked up" items we buy are furniture and tea?
I have recently come across a great group promoted by Yahoo called FREECYCLE. Basically the idea is people offer items they have for free to anyone who wants it. You sign up for a local area and get a once a day email listing offers. Nothing goes to waste and if you are patient enough you may find a pretty cool decor item.
The other day I went to a friend's house to see her new baby. I noticed this amazing vanity with round beveled mirror. She told me she got it through FreeCycle. She could have lied and I wouldn't have known the difference.
Consider it a treasure hunt when you need a redesign. New is easy but recycled design is impressive. |
